BOOK DESCRIPTION

»Climbing to the limit« is the subtitle of the book »Der Berg in mir« (engl. The Mountain Within) – a book that hereby is recommended to every alpinist - and this subtitle also is the motto of Alexander Huber, one of the two legendary Huberbuam.

»Wild«, is what Andreas Kubin, the editor-in-chief of the magazine Bergsteiger calls Huber, »but not insane«. He’d also probably no longer be alive otherwise. In other words: Alexander Huber repeatedly seeks out the limits of what is possible. He has to do this, as the book shows, because of an inner drive. Still, he does this with respect, in such a way that the limit is experienced as such. A limit that is obviously far from anything even imaginable by the weekend-warrior.

How far away from anything conceivable it really is is documented by photography inside the book that is proof of Alexander Huber’s incredible skill when moving on the most improbable rock- and ice formations on Earth. He is shown crack climbing on El Corazon, free soloing on the Direttissima on Cima Grande, making a free solo ascent of Opportunist on Schleierwasserfall, and during first ascent of Golden Eagle on the Aguja Desmochada in Patagonia, as well as highlining in the Wilder Kaiser mountains.

When looking at these breathtaking photos, some may think that the fact that the Huberbuam are still alive must have something to do with their mother’s blessings she mentions always giving to her sons in one of the interviews in the book. The actual blessing though could be that the two keep a cool head, that also prevents them from taking risks that are incalculable.
